Light Distribution

Light distribution is an important characteristic of a luminaire that affects the illumination and appearance of a space. Diverse types of luminaires have different light distributions, such as direct, indirect, or mixed.

There are two other types of light distribution:

– Asymmetrical (180o) light distribution is when the light is concentrated or directed to a specific area and is most suitable for pathways, streets, pontoons, docks, stairways where most of the illumination is required and would normally be installed off to one side of the illuminated area.

– Symmetrical (360o) light distribution is when the light is distributed evenly in all directions from the light source. This type of lighting is suitable for general lighting of landscapes, pathways and for way finding.

LED Colours Options

Different LED colour temperatures or Kelvin being the technical name, are used in public lighting to enhance the visual appeal, and ambiance of a space, to improve visibility for safety, and to reduce light pollution.

– 3000K produces Warm White light and is used in residential areas, parks, and locations requiring a (BUG) dark sky compliant or low glare rating.

– 4000K produces a Neutral or Natural White light and is used heavily in locations requiring clarity for safety, such as pathways, streets, parking lots, schools, marinas, pontoons, docks and mining oil and gas sites.

– 580nm+ LED Chips have a light spectrum with little to no blue light. They have minimal impacts on the behaviour and physiology of turtles and other nocturnal animals, are less disruptive to the natural circadian rhythms and less attractive to insects and other creatures.

SR Reflector

Our SR Reflector offers and aesthetically pleasing finish to our overhead lighting range whilst reducing glare, light trespass, and sky glow, which has negative impacts on human health, wildlife, and astronomy.

By adding our SR Reflector to our lighting range, you are assured of achieving Full Cutoff Dark Sky Compliant Lighting.

Dark sky compliant luminaires emitting between 100 and 1,000 total lumens, must have no more than 0.5% of the luminaire’s total output emitted as uplight (90 to 180 degrees above nadir).

For luminaires producing 100 lumens or less, no more than 5 lumens total is allowable as uplight. All our mid and lower power model solar lights are dark sky compliant without the SR Reflector being added.

Pole Type

Solar Bollard Lighting offer the largest variety of poles/stems, and mounting types with the largest range of colour finishes in either anodised, EverShield, powder coat, or graffiti resistant than any other competitor globally, which are made right here in Australia.

We only use pure Australian 6106 T6 aluminium billets to produce our high tensile strength, and marine grade extruded aluminium profiles. Being Australian Made no corners are cut to ensure our clients receive a product with a long in-situ life cycle of more than 25 years at least.

When buying our solar lighting products, you are guaranteed you will never receive a low-grade, thin wall, cast aluminium pole that can be easily broken, that are not colour finished correctly so corrode easily and have short in-situ life cycles, like our competitors do.

Overhead Lighting Range

Solar Bollard Lighting’s overhead lighting variants can illuminate pathways, minor roads, laneways, trails, parking lots, playgrounds, recreation areas, docks, mine sites and many other various applications.

With or without the SR Reflector you have an aesthetically pleasing lighting outcome that has an ability to withstand much greater wind speeds from hurricanes than typical overhead solar lights due to the symmetrical design and lack of sail area.

These lighting options eliminate the eye sore of a solar panel sitting on top of a pole or an integrated all-in-one solar light that offers the perfect perch or nesting area for birds which we call the “PELICAN AFFECT”.

From single, twin, triple or quad light options, we have your project covered.

Custom Pole Design

Solar Bollard Lighting can custom design poles to suit your application or retrofit needs specifically. We draw the pole designed first, then get your final approval before manufacturing begins of the finished product from our Australian 6106 T6 extruded aluminium profiles.

As an example, we designed various retrofit solar lights for the Qld Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) public marine assets, where excessive cost imported solar lights from Europe and Canada failed or severely corroded in just a few years.

They perfectly fitted over the existing mounting points, and saved TMR up to 70% of the original imported product cost using our solar lights. Plus, they received our 10-year warranty which also includes the battery and pole.
